On Thursday evening, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge attended an event thrown by the Governor General. The Duchess wore a bespoke Jenny Packham dress. It was a long sleeve black knee length gown with silver ferns on the left shoulder paying tribute to New Zealand’s national emblem, with her hair in loose curls. The Duchess took a note from the Queen’s playbook by incorporating an item of national importance in her outfits. The Duke and and Duchess of Cambridge unveiled a portrait of the Queen at the reception that had been commissioned by the New Zealand Portrait Gallery.
